Welcome to St. James Anglican Church

The first service for St. James Anglican Church was held at the American Legion Hall in Mathews, Virginia on November 9, 1980 . It was founded as a traditional Anglican parish. Like many Anglican churches, parishioners met where space was available. Later on worship services were held in people’s homes and in other churches. Since those early days, St. James was blessed by inheriting the Abingdon Glebe. Services are now held in a beautiful little chapel on the Glebe property.
